Here's two drawings I saw on the interior walls of a train while I was traveling through Egypt. I can't read the signature, but right below it, it says "Cordoba '91."
The trains are a sight to see. They are covered in dust and have many broken windows. They are often behind schedule. It took us 8 hours to get from Cairo to Abydos, but should have only been 7. The car we stayed in was surprising comfortable: air conditioned, reclining seats with lots of space. But lots of people smoke in the cars and the bathroom is the foulest thing i ever saw -- even worse than Mars Bar.
I'm leaving Abydos tomorrow, and I'm taking the same train to Luxor.
DOpe drawings. The trains sound like the ones in India. Most likely the more money you're willing to spend the nicer the train and the faster the ride.
