REMAKE: The Karate Kid

Apparently there is a remake of the original Karate Kid movie in the works. It's gonna star Jackie Chan as Mr. Miyagi and Daniel San will be played by Jaden Smith (son of Will & Jada).

You can read about it here. I'm gonna bite my tongue on this one.

This is crazy i came to this Blog this morning in order to post this. You beat me to the punch. This movie sounds promising. Except that its being directed by the guy who made "Agent Cody Banks" which means it might be too Disney-fide. The original Karate Kid had some hard core moments and heightened realism. This sounds like it might be the opposite. But Jackie Chan is Heating Up lately and hopefully will be On Fire when he films this movie. That could save it from mediocrity.

Yes, but will Chan's Mr. Miyagi stay true to Pat Morita's signature move of the slow motion sweep-the-leg or will he be backflipping off of walls?

Mr Miyagi will be nothing like the original. No way. Let's hope they cast some good bad guys. I wonder who will play the "Johnny" role that Billy Zabka made famous. I think the success of the Karate Kid remake rests on the casting of this role.

If Jackie Chan's moves are any bit faster than Morita's (which make molasses seem mercurial), I am walking out.

However, Jackie Chan is scorching. BTW, how come WHS never posted the drunk Jackie Chan video - the one where he ruins the concert and gets heckled?
