That punch nearly killed Rudy T. He nearly died on the court and had to have tons of reconstructive surgery. After that incident the NBA made a rule that if any player even throws a punch, even misses, he will be suspended. The NBA became much more conservative. Kermit Washington, the guy who threw the punch is still haunted by it. His career went down hill soon after and never recovered. Same with his personal life. He claims everyone hates him and still wont let it go. Rudy T on the other hand recovered after a year of surgery and made the all star team the next year and was extremely successful as head coach of the Rockets. Crazy how life works.
